Hannah and William - A Private Residence Wedding

There are so many moving parts and details when planning a wedding at a private home. We love them! So, when Hannah reached out to us we knew we wanted to jump in to help plan this special wedding day!! Hannah wanted a Bridgerton Inspired Garden Wedding...and boy did she have the perfect spot to make this happen! William's parents have a gorgeous proerty that would be the perfect backdrop to this dream day!

Tell us about your love story!

"Will and I met when we were both 17. We went to rival high schools but ended up crossing paths through mutual friends. From the very first night, we clicked instantly—by each other's side the whole evening like we’d known each other forever. After that night, we never stopped talking, and honestly, we’ve been inseparable ever since.

We started dating shortly after we met, finished high school together, and even went to college side by side. Over the years, we’ve grown up together, experienced so many chapters of life hand in hand, and built something really special.

After ten years of love, laughter, and a whole lot of growing, we both finally felt ready to take the next step. Will proposed on a rainy day at a cozy winery that had the cutest treehouse Airbnbs. I’ve always loved rainy days, so even with the drizzle, it felt completely perfect. We picked up a few bottles of wine and spent the weekend tucked away in the treehouse. On our first day there, while we were sitting in rocking chairs on the porch, he asked me to marry him—on 11.22.23. It was quiet, simple, and so very us."

Why did you choose to get married at a private home?

"We ended up choosing to have our wedding at Will’s parents’ property, Gatewood Farm. This place already held so much meaning for us, and after touring several venues, nothing could compare to the charm and natural beauty of this special spot. It just felt right from the start—like the perfect place to begin this new chapter together."

Why did you choose Scout and Grace Events to plan and design your wedding?

"We chose Scout and Grace because of their stunning portfolio of weddings and the immediate warmth they showed us from our very first phone call. I had no idea where to begin when it came to planning a wedding at a private residence, but they instantly put me at ease and assured me they were the right team to guide us through it all."

How would you describe your wedding day?

"The whole day had that Southern elegance charm with a Bridgerton-inspired vibe — timeless, romantic, and full of thoughtful details. From horses in the pasture to soft florals, wax seals, and candlelight, everything felt elegant but relaxed.

Even with the rain, it couldn’t have been more special. A dragonfly hovered above us during the reception, an owl called out during the ceremony, and thunder rolled in the background — like nature showed up just for us.

It was beautiful, emotional, and completely unforgettable."

What personal touches did you incorporate into the design and wedding day?

"We were really intentional about making the day feel like us — not like a performance. One of the most meaningful parts was having Will’s grandfather officiate the ceremony, which made everything feel so personal. My grandfather also gave a prayer during the ceremony, and right after he finished, a loud rumble of thunder rolled in. It honestly felt like nature itself was giving its blessing on our marriage — such a surreal and emotional moment.

Instead of a traditional guestbook, we had an After the Tone audio guestbook and a ShutterBooth CLT photobooth. I’m so glad we did both. Listening back to the voicemails was emotional and hilarious — especially the ones left later in the night. The photobooth gave us some of our favorite photos of our guests just having fun.

We also placed disposable cameras around the venue because I’ve always loved film photography. It was a fun way to capture the night from our guests' perspective and get even more candid memories.

We chose to skip the traditional first dances and instead did a champagne tower and a big group photo with all our guests. It felt more like us and really set the tone for the night — relaxed, fun, and inclusive.

Every part of the day was designed to reflect who we are and what mattered most to us. We let go of the pressure to follow traditions that didn’t feel right, and because of that, the whole day felt honest, joyful, and completely us."

What was the most memorable part of your wedding?

"The most memorable part of our wedding wasn’t one specific moment — it was the energy. Despite the rain and the last-minute changes to our setup and timeline, everyone there — our guests, planners, and vendors — radiated nothing but positivity, love, and genuine joy. You could truly feel that everyone was just happy to be there and celebrate our marriage, and that meant everything to us."

Tell us about an unexpected moment from your wedding day.

"One unexpected moment happened right before the ceremony was about to start. It was raining, so instead of guests being seated outside where the ceremony was set to take place, everyone had gathered inside the house — all packed into the kitchen area. I (the bride) was waiting in one of the rooms nearby and could hear everyone mingling and talking, which started to stress me out since it was time to begin and no one was outside.

But just minutes before the ceremony, the rain paused. Miriam went into the kitchen and told everyone it was time to head to their seats. Everyone cheered — and hearing that cheer from the room I was waiting in instantly lifted my spirits. It was such a meaningful moment that made me feel calm and at peace with whatever the weather had planned for us.

There were so many funny and joyful moments throughout the night — especially during the reception. Seeing everyone let loose on the dance floor, including people you’d never expect to see dancing, was unforgettable. It was pure happiness all around."

What was your favorite part about working with Scout and Grace Events?

"My favorite part about working with Scout and Grace was how reassuring they always were. No matter what came up, they handled it with calm and confidence. I was able to fully trust Miriam and her team throughout the entire planning process. Miriam was our go-to person for everything — whenever we felt overwhelmed or stressed, she had a way of grounding us and bringing the excitement back. She truly was our rock."

If you could describe working with them in 3 words, what would they be?

"Calm. Trustworthy. Supportive."

What advice would you give another bride?

"My advice to current clients in the planning process is to trust the process — and trust your planner. Always come back to the reason you're doing this: you're marrying the love of your life. Yes, you want your guests to have a great time, but ultimately, the day should reflect you. Don’t let social media define what your wedding “should” look like. Every wedding is different, and that’s exactly how it should be. If something feels right to you, do it — and if it doesn’t, don’t feel obligated. You’ll only feel stressed about the things you weren’t excited to do in the first place."
