Finding the Perfect Wedding Planner in the Carolinas...

Finding the Perfect Wedding Planner: A Comedy of Errors

So, you’re engaged, and the excitement is palpable! You’re ready to dive into wedding planning, but first, you need a wedding planner. Easy, right? Wrong! Let’s take you on a journey through the hilarious world of wedding planners, as told by Scout and Grace in the voice of their clients.

The Search Begins

We started our hunt for a wedding coordinator like it was a treasure hunt. Little did we know, we’d be digging through a mountain of “wedding experts” who were more interested in their Instagram followers than our big day!

Meeting #1: The Overzealous Planner

Our first meeting was with a planner who arrived with a binder thicker than a college textbook. She immediately launched into a PowerPoint presentation titled “Why Your Wedding Should Be a Circus Theme.” Spoiler alert: We don’t want clowns at our wedding unless they’re serving cake!

Meeting #2: The Laid-Back Guru

Next, we met a planner who was so chill, we thought he might be a yoga instructor. He suggested we have a “nature wedding” in the middle of a forest. Great idea! Until we realized we’d need to hire a bear wrangler to keep the wildlife away from the buffet. No thanks!

Meeting #3: The DIY Queen

Then came the DIY queen who insisted on making every decoration herself. By the end of the meeting, we had signed up for a macramé workshop, a floral arrangement class, and a pottery session. We just wanted to plan a wedding, not start a craft fair!

The Final Decision

After several more meetings filled with questionable ideas (we’re looking at you, “underwater wedding”), we finally found our dream wedding planners - Scout and Grace Events. They didn’t have a circus theme, were not nature obsession, or a penchant for DIY crafts. Instead, they simply asked us what we wanted and created a vision. It was like a breath of fresh air!

Lessons Learned

  • Trust your gut—if someone suggests a llama as a ring bearer, run!

  • Always ask about their favorite wedding disaster story. If they don’t have at least 12, they’re probably too new to the game!

  • Don’t be afraid to say no. Your wedding is not an experimental art project.

  • You have one chance to get this right! Hire the team of experts!!

So, to all the engaged couples out there: Remember, finding a wedding planner is like dating—sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince (or princesses) of wedding planning!
